  • Vision and Values

We love each other, learn together and inspire all to succeed.

    RESPECT

In the Bible, the concept of respect is expressed through a variety of Hebrew and Greek words.

Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honour the King.” Peter 2:17

    TRUST

To trust is to believe in the reliability, truth, ability or strength of something. So, when it comes to trusting God, that means believing in His reliability, His Word, His ability and His strength.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.

    Proverbs 3:5-6

    KINDNESS

Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32

    RESPONSIBILITY

God expects us to take responsibility for our actions—instead of refusing to take responsibility and blaming God (or others) for our mistakes—and He aids those who do.

We are called to be responsible stewards of God's creation: Genesis 1:2

    Our Biblical Foundation

The Parable of the Lost Sheep

    Jesus told the following parable:

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?

And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbours, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’

Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.

    Our British Values

BEAMINSTER ST MARY'S ACADEMY BRITISH VALUES

At St. Mary's Academy, we actively promote British Values, as defined under the Ofsted guidance 2014, through our school vision, ethos, agreed rules, curriculum and teaching:

'Ensure that they and the school promote tolerance of and respect for people of all faiths (or those of no faith), cultures and lifestyles; and support and help, through their words, actions and influence within the school and more widely in the community, to prepare children and young people positively for life in modern Britain'.

The government define these values as

    • Democracy
    • Rule of law
    • Individual liberty
    • Mutual respect
    • Tolerance of those of different faiths

At St. Mary's Academy, we value the diverse ethnic backgrounds of all pupils and families and undertake a variety of events and lessons to celebrate these. We have found this approach to be enriching for all parties as it teaches tolerance and respect for the differences in our community and the wider world. Underpinning all of this, we teach a range of curriculum topics which develop British values. We actively challenge children, staff or parents expressing opinions contrary to fundamental British Values, including 'extremist' views.
