    Sun 31 Jan 2021

Dear Parents, Carers, Friends and Members of our Local Community,

Recruitment for Academy Chair of Governors at Beaminster St Mary’s Academy

The Academy Standards and Ethos Committee at Beaminster St Marys Academy has a vacancy for a chair of governors.

If you are interested, we would love to hear from you.  We are looking for a reflective individual who can demonstrate commitment to the role and understands the importance of building strong working relationships within our Academy Trust and the local community.

This strategic role requires knowledge and experience to hold leaders to account for the educational performance of the school, ensuring that there are robust standards of education which enable the children within our community to make the progress they deserve.

Governors meet formally six times a year with meetings usually starting between 5 - 6pm and lasting for two hours. As chair of governors you may also be invited to attend meetings during the school day where possible.

More details about the Trust’s governance, including the Scheme of Delegation, can be found here: https://www.dsat.org.uk/governance/

If you possess the skills, knowledge and experience and would be interested in taking on this rewarding and crucial role please contact me by email Clerk@beaminsterstmarys.dsat.org.uk to express your interest or to ask any questions. Please spread the word about this vacancy.  An induction and ongoing training will be provided.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards

    Sharon Vaughan

  • Update from Mrs Barnett - 26th January 2021

    Wed 27 Jan 2021

    Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope that you are all well .

A huge thank you to you all for how amazingly well you are doing with the home schooling! As a parent myself, I really do appreciate that things at the moment are not easy but what I do know, is that we really do have a fantastic school community who are supportive, kind and thoughtful and for that, I am extremely grateful.

I wanted to update you on a couple of things:

    IT Support
We have been able to provide many families with laptops or Ipads as well as supporting them to have internet access. Thank you once again, to the school community, who have shown such great generosity and helped us to make this happen! If you are experiencing problems with IT or accessing Teams, please do contact the school as we are here to help as much as we possibly can.

    Website
We have written a Remote Learning Policy as well as an information document on remote learning for parents. These documents can be found on our website by clicking on:

    Menu- Parents-Covid-19 Procedures and Letters.

    Testing for Staff
As you may be aware, all schools are now able to provide their staff with self-testing kits for Covid-19 to test for asymptomatic cases.

All staff have been provided with the relevant training and guidance to be able to self-test themselves.

Staff will be testing themselves twice weekly and it is important to note, that if any staff member’s test result is positive, then the relevant bubble will need to be immediately closed, to reduce the risk of infection.

    Closure of Bubbles
To remind you, if a child receives a positive test result from a PCR test, then the relevant bubble will need to be closed immediately to reduce the risk of infection. It is prudent to note here, that it may be necessary to close a bubble with very short notice and I apologise in advance, for any inconvenience this may cause, but I am thankful for your understanding and support with this.

    Key Worker Bubbles
Thank you so much to all of the parents who are keeping us updated with their change of circumstances and for letting us know when they no longer require a key worker place. This really does help us to ensure that the key worker families are supported, to enable them to carry out their essential work, as well as helping us to reduce the risk of infection within our school.

As always, thank you so much for your continued support and kindness, please remember that we are here to help in any way we can so do not hesitate to contact us.

    Take care and stay safe

    With best wishes

    Mrs C Barnett
